About
The Independent Floral Designers Association (IFDA) was established in 1988 by a small group of professional floral designers who came together to offer educational, technical and moral support to one another. Our current membership includes independent floral designers, flower growers, floral educators, freelance designers, retail florists and flower hobbyists from the Greater Washington DC Metropolitan area.
IFDA pivoted to virtual meetings during the Pandemic to continue to share ideas, to network and to hone their design and business skills. Currently, we meet in person several times a year while maintaining our virtual meetings. The calendar of programs includes presentations, workshops and panel discussions. Our email list, Instagram and Facebook pages keep members, supporters and friends informed of upcoming activities. Please follow our Facebook page: Independent Floral Designers Association - MD or Instagram account @ifdaflorists for timely photos and information on our current activities.
And stay tuned for updates here and on Facebook about any changes for our organization.
Mission
Our mission is to support floral designers in their endeavors by offering educational, technical and networking support and to help expand their knowledge of floral design and business practices.
Vision
Building on our members’ relationships with AIFD (American Institute of Floral Designers), EMC (European Masters Certification), Chapel Designers, Intrigue and other leaders in the industry, we envision our sustained leadership in comprehensive floral education for this region and beyond.
